Dear Friends,
Last time, I said I thought all I had to do, to be in right standing with God was to say the normal "God come into my life and dwell in it". Well there is more to that. Professing means nothing without repentance, salvation, obedience, faith, righteousness, holiness and fleeing from all appearance of sin. That being said, no one is perfect, we are all working towards perfection. Romans 3:22-24 says
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
It is through His grace that we come to repentance and salvation. Salvation is by faith in Christ and faith alone in Christ, is preceded by repentance.
What would you say repentance is? I will share what I think (Biblical perspective) and you can comment with your views.
Repentance is a growing desire to turn away from sin, to hate the things God hates and love the things He loves. A desire not to be like things or anyone but Christ.
Repentance comes when you decide to walk in the path of righteousness as a style of life.
If you want to know if you've come to true repentance, examine and test yourself in the light of the scripture and compare yourself to Christ and not anyone else. We tend to compare ourselves to our friends, pastors, parents, elders.......
"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?"
(2 Corinthians 13:5)
After this God's grace makes sure that there is no condemnation for you.
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1)
Here is my closing words for you today. Now that you have forgiving yourself (last post), the next step to having a healthy soul, is for you to come into a state of repentance. Let His words be your guide as you take this next step.
I'll leave you with 2 Peter 1:5-10. Enjoy your weekend and be blessed.
