Dear Friends,
It has been a while and truthfully it has not been due to writer's block or lack of hearing from God. It has been mostly due to laziness, excuses and giving the devil the chance to sidetrack me.
In this era of busy schedules and fast-paced lifestyles, determination might just be what we all need. I often wonder why we find it difficult to sometime read our bible, pray and worship God. Do we feel the bible is boring? Do we feel the book is too big, or we just don’t seem to understand the language? I can go on and on about the excuses I have made and heard others make.
I have come to a conclusion that they are mere excuses and if you dig deeper, you will find your reason for being lazy or shall I say your reason for procrastination.
Let me start with some answers and questions to some excuses we make.
The bible is boring: There are so many interesting stories, poems... in the bible, which sometimes brings a smile to my face.
Too big: I bet you must have read Christian books or novels that are bigger than the bible in less than a month.
Too Shakespeare: Get a better translation (new living translation or new international version) and drop the KJV
Back to digging dipper for a reason, have you ever noticed that when you decide to read your bible, you then remember that you wanted to make pancakes for breakfast, your phone rings, you want to sleep a little more, your child wakes up or you need to walk the dog. I can go on and on about the tactics of the devil in keeping you from gaining knowledge and God's approach to things.
The problem is we tend to believe God understands every little busy part of our life’s and then you say, I'll study and say a prayer right before I go to bed tonight.
OH! Guess what I dozed off last night and I'm almost late for work. "God please forgive me but I will sing praises to you throughout the day and as soon as i get back from work (before doing anything else) I will spend time with you.
OH! I had a hectic day at work and right now I just want to jump into the shower and get something to eat...
Sounds Familiar?
For how long will you continue to make God a lower priority, for how long will you continue to let the devil use this as a way to diminish your growth and a wonderful relationship you could be having with the FATHER!
Make the determination not to see a relationship with God as a burden or one more task. For you to have a relationship with the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, Holy Spirit), you have to know them better and the only way to do that is to spend more time "willingly" with Them.
Make Them as important as the air you breathe in (May be that is too complex).
Make time with Them as important as you being at your daughter’s wedding to walk her down the aisle or as important as pushing during child labor.
You will never regret giving "times with God" a higher priority. Go and put the devil to shame, let spending time in sweet communion with God be a part of your daily routine.
Ha-ha, I love you all and I have missed you all terribly, I have made a determination, despite my busy schedule to get something written down for you at least every week.
Have a blessed day.
With Love
