Dear Friends,
So, Today I want to thank God for my true friends and family for loving me despite my mistakes and shortcomings. But how many people feel the same way? Ask the pregnant teens, the drunks, past convicts, harlots....
We don't know their story, we don't know their circumstances and all we do is judge and not accept them. Even the church has become a place of lies and deceit because people feel pastor or members will judge. How about we Christians try to help people along their mistakes. Even Christ showed that example (Example: We all know the story of Mary, Lazarus sister).
I'll tell you a story of someone that makes me feel no matter what happens, God can vindicate and accept you.
Jephthah (from Gilead) was called a mighty man of valor but had a tick from his ancestor attached to him, making him an outcast. His mother was a harlot. His step brothers drove him out leaving him with no inheritance and his people did not help him out (nothing to start life afresh). At this point, I can surely tell you that if it were me, only God's grace and strength can keep me from crying my eyes out, doing something stupid or giving up on life. Anyways, he moved to the land of Tob and worthless men attached themselves to him and followed him.
When the people of Ammon made war with the isrealites, the elders of Gilead went looking for Jephthah to become their commander so they may fight against the people of Ammon (what a twist). To cut long story short. He became their commander and the head over all inhabitant. God delivered the people of ammon to his hands and He paid his vows to God(You can read more about Jephthah in Judges 11 & 12).
When we don't accept others we miss out on their views and contributions. Great potentials like Jephthah are wasted only if we can just accept everyone including the one's the society, churches, schools, groups, culture and nations labels as outcast or "Do not fit the norm".
Accepting others should be a way of life as Christians and it grows out of obedience to Christ. When you accept Christ in all areas of life, you will share his values and doctrine to all.
Now dont quote me wrong, acceptance does not mean you condoning sinful acts and behaviours. But it should make you ask "Can I do anything to help these people gain acceptance for their characters, mistakes, personalities and abilities?". I say we can by caring for their souls, praying and leaving it up to God to turn their mistakes or life around and ultimately protect their soul.
If you dont like being treated like an outcast because of your past mistakes, then take the time to accept and care for someone's soul today. Enjoy your weekend.
With Love,
SoulCare4All
